How does the Decisions app work?

Think of a yes-or-no question and tap the round play button. After a short "thinking" animation, the app shows a random YES or NO answer. The answer is said in one of several ways, such as "Definitely" or "Better not"; a green glow means yes and a red glow means no. If you prefer a plain YES or NO, turn on "Classic answers" in Settings (the button in the top right corner). Each answer is added to your decision history, where you can see the YES/NO percentages and a chart of your latest decisions.

Settings: answers, sounds, and vibration

Tap the button in the top right corner of the screen to open Settings. There you can turn on "Classic answers" to see a plain YES or NO instead of phrases, and turn sounds and vibration on or off. Sounds play while the app is thinking and when the answer appears; they follow your phone's silent mode.

Sharing an answer

After you get an answer, tap the share button in the top right corner of the answer area. The app creates a picture with your question, the answer, and the rounds, and opens your device's share menu, so you can send it to a messenger, post it to a story, or save it to your photos.

Shake to decide

Instead of tapping the play button, you can shake your phone: it works exactly like the button, in both modes and with the selected number of rounds. A firm shake is needed, so walking with the phone in your pocket does not trigger it. Shaking only works while the app is open on the screen, and it is ignored while the keyboard is open, so typing a question is not interrupted.

Writing down your question

Under the answer there is a field that says "What are you asking?". Typing your question there is optional. In the YES / NO mode, the question is saved together with the answer in your decision history, so you can later see what each answer was about. The question stays in the field after the answer, so you can ask it again or replace it with a new one.

Best of 3 or 5

If one answer does not convince you, use the "Rounds" button to the right of the play button. Each tap switches between ×1, ×3, and ×5. With ×3 or ×5, one tap on the play button plays that many rounds, and the answer that comes up most often wins. Colored dots under the answer show every round (green for YES, red for NO) together with the score, for example 2 : 1. The final answer is saved to your decision history as one decision. Rounds are available in the YES / NO mode.

Choosing between your own options

Tap "Options" at the top of the screen to switch from YES / NO to your own list. Type between 2 and 10 options, for example "Pizza", "Sushi", and "Burger", then tap the play button to let the app pick one of them. Use "Add option" to add a row and the "×" button to remove one. Your options are saved on your device, so they are still there the next time you open the app. Tap "Yes / No" to switch back.

Are the answers really random?

Yes. Every answer is chosen at random: YES and NO have an equal chance, and in the Options mode every option has the same chance of being picked. Answers do not depend on previous answers. Decisions is meant for fun and for breaking a tie when you cannot choose; please do not rely on it for important decisions.

Why does the chart show only some of my decisions?

The chart shows your 30 most recent decisions so that it stays readable. The YES and NO percentages above the chart are always calculated from your whole history.

Clearing the history

In the YES / NO mode, tap the "Clear" button to delete your decision history. If you cleared it by mistake, tap "Undo" in the message that appears for a few seconds after clearing. The "Clear" button is inactive while the history is empty.

My history disappeared

The history is stored only on your device. It is removed when you clear it in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall Decisions. It may be restored together with the app from your device's backup, depending on your Google or Apple backup settings.

Language

Decisions is available in English and Ukrainian and follows your device's language setting.

Resetting the app

If Decisions is not working as expected, close and reopen the app. You can also restart your device or uninstall and reinstall Decisions. Reinstalling the app removes the locally stored decision history.

Privacy

Decisions works offline and does not collect personal information. For details, read the Privacy Policy.
